Our springboard series: ‘re/imagining makerspaces to support equity and social justice’.
The term Springboard is used as these are designed to be useful ‘jumping off points’ for re/imagining practice and aim to start a conversation within the sector. Each Springboard identifies two key tenets (principles, or ideas) for supporting professional reflection and action. There are four publications in this series:
Springboard #1: Introduction – Re/imagining makerspaces to support equity and social justice: introduction to the springboard series.
Springboard #2: Values – Re/imagining the values and purpose of makerspaces.
Springboard #3: Spaces – Re/imagining space and where making happens in makerspaces.
Springboard #4: Objects – Re/imagining objects and what gets made in makerspaces.
The aim of the Springboards is to support practitioners in the process of professional reflection and to help makerspaces in building their capacity for more equitable and socially just practice. The publications are primarily targeted to makerspace practitioners and policy-makers, although they may have relevance for the wider STEM education sector.
Below you can view the Springboards as ‘plain text’ versions ~ simple format word documents that include picture descriptions.
