Fertilization Project

The Fertilization Project converts food waste into nutrient-rich compost. The project is a creative response to pressing needs in the region including famine and pollution. It includes apps to track waste, sensors to monitor composting. and skill-building sessions in the community.

Judges Comments

This is a wonderful group project that meets a clear local need in terms of food scarcity in Gaza as well as a wider environmental need to reduce waste. We found rich STEM skills have been demonstrated in the making process, from the construction of the 'bin' to the biological conditions needed for decomposition.
