The project
Making Spaces was a collaborative research project that identified and shared equitable practice to support diverse young people’s engagement with STEM. The project ran from 2020-2026.
About the project
Making Spaces was a research project based at UCL. Working with makerspaces in seven countries, the project identified and shared equitable practice to support diverse young people’s engagement with STEM.
The UCL Team
We were based in the IOE, UCL’s faculty of Education and Society.
Makerspace partners
Partnerships with makerspaces were key to our research project. Over the whole project, we worked with ten makerspaces from eight countries.
Advisory group
The project advisory group brought together expertise from a range of sectors and national contexts.
Youth co-researchers
We worked with young people from our partners as youth co-researchers. This helped us co-produce research to understand ideas of equitable practices from a youth perspective.
