Ramadan Lanterns created from local recycled materials. Made of recycled materials including paper, sticks and cut wires, this product responded to the high demand for decorations during Ramadan. The project also encouraged community members to build their own lanterns, to counter the environmental impact of conventional lanterns. The inventive lanterns were composed of diverse materials ranging from cartoon pieces to wooden sticks, and designed carefully to connect to electrical circuits. The product is focused specifically on empowering young women to be creative and thoughtful in how they recycle and reuse materials.

This project demonstrated an elegant and eco-friendly approach. We were particularly fascinated by the initiative to empower girls to craft their own Ramadan lanterns, thereby promoting STEM participation and fostering envrionmental responsibility.
