Making Spaces is a research project based at UCL. Working with makerspaces in five countries, the project identifies and shares equitable practice to support diverse young people’s engagement with STEM.

We are based in the IOE, UCL’s faculty of Education and Society.
Makerspace partners
Partnerships with makerspaces are key to our research project. We are working with seven makerspaces in five countries.
Advisory group
The project advisory group brings together expertise from a range of sectors and national contexts.
Youth co-researchers
We work with youth co-researchers from across our project partners to understand ideas of equitable practices in makerspace from a youth perspective and to co-produce research together.
